Since far too often we only publicly say nice things about people when they are dead I’ve decided to randomly pick a Facebook friend every day and say something nice about them.

Today’s person: Steve Mannshardt!
Steve M. spends much of his time raising money to build schools in the Himalayas, and some of his year traveling to the area to help with the organizing of his foundation, the World Wide Education Partnerships for Nepal.
The rest of the time he designs light for plays and dresses up as Tigger.
But let’s back up to that first part, shall we? This wiry, never quite successfully shaved fellow does the cool thing that real people, in the real world, don’t really do - he builds schools for kids on the other side of the planet. Because it seems to him to be the right thing to do.
I’m trying to find a new gaming app to wile away the time, and he’s off building schools in
Nepal.
Dick.
And then he’s walking around dressed as Tigger. Grown man = big Tigger. Still not quite shaved, but do any of us need to see a shaved Tigger?
That’s right - Tigger is designing lights at a now Tony award-winning Theatreworks, and oh by the way also raising money to help educate kids 12, 223 miles away.
Looks like he may be a mensch’s mensch, a pillar of humanity. Maybe. But maybe he’s doing it to make the rest of us feel that somehow we are just not thoughtful, as freakishly heroic, that we are not being our best selves.
And that we don’t deserve to be Tigger.
Dick.
